Highlight
An Injury Prevention Conference, known as “Learn to be safe: Implementation of Injury Prevention Programme in Schools (IPPS)” was held on 7 December 2002. The Conference aimed to share with the general public the success and experience derived from the 18-months of programme preparation and implementation of IPPS. Opening Ceremony was jointly officiated by Dr. Hon Lo Wing-lok, JP, Legislative Council Member (Medical Constituency), Mr. Irving Koo, SBS, JP, Chairman of the Quality Education Fund Steering Committee, the Hon. Mr. Michael Kadoorie, GBS and Mrs. Michael Kadoorie, who have supported the translation of the UK Injury Minimization Programme into Chinese, Dr. Regina Ching, Deputy Director of Health, Dr. Keith Willett, the chairman of Injury Minimization Programme for Schools in United Kingdom and Prof. S.H. Lee, our Honorary Advisor. The Conference included keynotes from Dr. Keith Willet and reports from CIPRA and two school headmistresses of the participating schools.

Over 100 injury prevention advocates from various sectors, including subsidized healthcare providers, Department of Health, Social Welfare Department, local child health advocacy and educators attended the workshop. In addition, over 10 local primary schools have signed up and stated their interest to join the IPPS.
